Upskill Scholarships

UpSkill Scholarships are now closed for 2011.

Apply for an ESITO UpSkill Scholarship if you want to move your career up a rung. Twenty-four electricity supply industry employees from 12 member companies received UpSkill Scholarships in 2010.

ESITO’s UpSkill Scholarships support new career development for employees currently employed in the industry with an ESITO member company. The scholarships fund skill development outside an employee's current training programme.

UpSkill Scholarships aim to help retain employees in the industry and to address the skill shortages identified by the industry and the skills gap research undertaken by the University of Otago for ESITO.

Scholarships may reimburse training and associated costs for:

  • National Certificates
  • National Diplomas
  • one-off courses
  • secondments
  • university undergraduate degrees and postgraduate study.

How to apply

Please submit the following documents to ESITO.

  • A completed ESITO UpSkill Scholarship Application Form (the Employer Reference section must be sent in separately by your employer).
  • Your curriculum vitae/resume.
  • Proof of course enrolment/statement of account (from the training provider).
  • Company endorsement on letterhead.
  • Expenses (supported by receipts, invoices etc).
  • List of credits to be awarded throughout the year.

 Encouraging staff to take advantage of this funding helps companies invest in talented people and support their development. It also helps ensure they’ll see results, because there’s a responsibility to perform that goes along with any scholarship.

Applications are reviewed by a member of the review panel and outcomes notified one month after the review is commenced.
