Line Mechanic Competition

Eight teams of line mechanics will battle it out for industry honours at Mystery Creek Events Centre in Hamilton from 1-3 November.

The teams are:

  • Northpower
  • South Island Line Team
  • Tenix
  • Top Energy (Kaitaia)
  • Top Energy (Puketona)
  • WEL Networks.

The events

Under the close scrutiny of experienced judges and the pressure of the time clock, teams will complete 13 technical events and a fun mystery challenge. Technical events include:

  • Binding and Terminating
  • Crane Operation
  • Dismantle
  • Electrical Theory
  • Equipotential Zone
  • Faults
  • First Aid
  • Hardware Install
  • Pole and Earth Bank Install
  • Pole Testing
  • Pole Top Rescue
  • Switching
  • Testing to Ensure Safety.

Awards presentation

The winners of each event, and the top three teams overall, will be announced at an awards presentation held at the competition arena on 3 November starting at around 2pm.

The top three teams will receive complimentary tickets to the ESITO Excellence Awards dinner where the runner-up and winning teams will be announced.
