Telecommunications

The telecommunications qualifications are as follows.

Qualification Level Description
National Certificate in Telecommunications  2 This is an entry level qualification for people with limited direct work experience already employed in the telecommunications industry. It is also intended for school leavers entering the industry.
The qualification covers generic workplace skills such as communication and safety, and a selection of telecommunications skills directly related to the industry.
National Certificate in Telecommunications with strands in:
Customer Access Network
Customer Premises Equipment
Bearer and Switch
Radio
Building and Data Cabling
Information Communication Technology
Rigging
 3 The Level 3 qualification is the second part of a progressive career path. The certificate builds on the Level 2 qualification and is intended for people with some work experience in the telecommunications industry.
Candidates complete the core compulsory and elective unit standards and then select one of the seven strands. 

Currently Level 3 is the minimum requirement to work on the telecommunications network.

 4 The Level 4 qualification is the advanced part of this career path. The certificate builds on the Level 3 qualification and is intended for experienced people in the telecommunications industry.
