What is the Targeted Review of Qualifications?
The Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) has been initiated by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) to:
New requirements for listing qualifications on the NZQF
To help achieve this streamlining and simplification process, NZQA have new requirements that must be met to list a qualification on the NZQF. These requirements radically change the design and delivery of qualifications.
-
The emphasis will now be on the skills, knowledge and competencies required for a qualification rather than the achievement of specific unit standards.
-
Every qualification will have an outcome statement which has three components: a graduate profile, an education pathway and an employment pathway. This will make it clear what a graduate will be able do, the knowledge they will have and their eligibility for licensing or professional registration.
-
Qualifications on the NZQF will no longer be owned by the Standard Setting Body. This means any training provider or industry training organisation will be able to develop a programme that leads to the required outcomes of a qualification listed on the NZQF.
Review timeframe
Over the next three years, every qualification at levels 1 to 6 on the NZQF will be reviewed. ESITO’s qualifications have been assigned to four different sectors.
